When Musk bought Twitter and the platform turned chaotic evil, I lost a valuable place to express my ideas and emotions about our worsening climate predicament. It turns out this expression - much of it profane, because, what the actual fuck people - was an important emotional outlet for me. I need to write. So I’m going to try writing here.
What to expect
A non-toxic community for meaningful climate discussion. Is such a thing possible? Join me, dear readers, as we find out. Let’s build a community that hews to science and eschews denial, that finds hope without hopium, that isn’t afraid to grieve, that rolls up its sleeves and isn’t afraid to think outside of the box. Yes, it’s very, very bad. No, it’s not too late to fight.
Writings of various sorts that capture the contents of my brain to the best of my ability. I reserve the right to try out ideas for articles and book chapters, to rant, to cry in the wilderness. This is where I can develop ideas through writing, and I’d love your comments as I do so. If you like my tweets and opinion pieces, you’ll probably like this substack. If you hate my tweets and opinion pieces, you’ll probably hate this substack.
I’ve realized that my work as a climate communicator is at least as important as my work as a climate scientist. There’s already plenty of science to know what to do, but as a society we’re still failing to act. I understand the real urgency of where we’re at and I’m not afraid to tell it like it is. I won’t hold back on you.
Therefore, I’m working to pivot to doing more climate communications work, more consistently, and not just in my free time. That has been too stressful, and I burnt out for a while. I’m hoping this substack can help me make this important work sustainable. If you value my voice in the world, please consider supporting me here. The more support I get, the more communications work I can do!
Lastly, it has been the honor of a lifetime to be part of the global community of climate activists. Thank you, all of you, however you show up. I love you all.
Wishing you all the best, even as we go deeper into the chaos,
Peter

So great to see you here Peter. I was a regular reader of your posts on Twitter. Glad to find another way to connect with you.
